Laila El Kebira" (the great night) which depicts the

added a clip of the Aleppo
master Sabri Mdallal performing dawr Asl el-Gharam Nazrah,
a classical song originally composed by Muhammad Uthman,
who was a leading Egyptian musician in the 19th century.
The dawr is regarded as the most sophisticated form of
the classical Arabic song, although it was discontinued
in the 1930's. Asl
el-Gharam Nazrah
was performed by many Arab artists, including Oum Kulthoum,
Marie Jubran and Sabah Fakhri, but Sabri's performance is
probably the greatest. Watch this unique clip in the Video
Section.
